For 24 young girls, a recent getaway weekend replaced exam rooms with dressing rooms, hospital bracelets with stylish bangles, and MRI images with professional photographs.
The girls began their weekend with a shopping spree at H&M.They weren’t shy to fill up their shopping bags with pants, shirts, jewelry and hats.They complimented each other as they saw their different styles emerge while they tried on outfits. “It was fun because it was just us girls,” said Gianna, pictured on the left.The weekend, made possible by The Howard G. Gordon Family Teen Activities Fund, gives the girls a chance to have fun, meet new friends, and bond over their experiences.After shopping, the girls gathered at Joe’s American Bar & Grill for lunch.After the shopping trip, the girls headed out to see “Annie the Musical.” But before the show started, the girls tried on silly costumes and posed for pictures in a photo booth.For everyone involved with the event, the weekend also included manicures and makeovers at Pini Swissa Salon on Newbury Street in Boston.Once the girls are finished at the salon, they have their portraits taken by photographer Doug Quagliaroli, the father of a former pediatric patient.
