Gabby Spear, a young, active mom, had never noticed a lump or pain before suddenly finding her breast cancer in November 2013, when she was 38. She was shocked. But, with two young daughters, there wasn’t much time to adjust to her new normal.
In the latest episode of Voices: Then and Now, Spear recalls her experience being diagnosed with and treated for breast cancer and how it affected her family life. She is also joined by her husband, Andy, to share how family roles shifted, what talking to their daughters about cancer has been like, and why Spear remains involved with Dana-Farber post-treatment.
In the second season of our Voices podcast series, we invite Dana-Farber patients to share their experiences being diagnosed with and treated for cancer, and discuss with a caregiver how the experience shaped them, how they are doing now, and what advice they have for other patients. Visit Dana-Farber’s podcast page for more information on other cancer podcast series.
